NEWSLETTER

As summer moves along and the monsoon moves in, Spectrum continues to produce some of the most challenging and innovative media in our industry. We seem to be having our own monsoon of production! No, you haven’t missed any newsletters. We’ve just been so busy this is the first chance we’ve had to sit down and bring you up to speed about what’s been going down at Spectrum. Cameras have been rollin’… edit suites have been smokin’… and great things are pourin’ out with more to come! Here’s the latest.

SPECTRUM RECALLED FOR DUTY BY THE UNITED STATES AIR FORCE!!

The U.S. Air Force called on Spectrum for the second time to produce a training video on the giant C5 Aircraft. This is the aircraft that transports tanks, armored personnel carriers and other heavy military equipment around the globe to support our troops. Spectrum was tapped by Kern Steel and the Air Force to develop a training program from script to screen on the proper use of the C5 Maintenance Stand and support equipment. The Spectrum Team spent a week on location at the Dover, Del., Air Force Base utilizing multiple cameras, time lapse video and other special effects to tell the story and keep our aircraft flying. The project included original animation and narrator segments shot green screen in Spectrum studios. Toughest part of the project? Trying to fit host Cathy Rankin into an Air Force jump suit that was twice her size and the smallest available! But, as always, Spectrum “flew” to the rescue with tape, clips and pins!! No bubble gum was needed, this time!! Spectrum’s team performed with precision. John Friesen directed, Dave Jones provided excellent camera work, Craig Fleming delivered superb lighting under very difficult conditions and audio tech Reed Hohenstein made sure our sound was crisp and clear in spite of the screaming jets all around us! And we can all sleep well tonight knowing that the C5’s are up and flying! There’s talk of Spectrum being called up for a third tour of duty with the Air Force, and of course, we’ll be glad to serve. We'll keep you posted!

JERUSALEM PRAYER TEAM COUNTS ON SPECTRUM TO PRODUCE TWO NEW INFOMERCIALS

Mike Evans and his Jerusalem Prayer Team joined with Spectrum to produce two new infomercials. The “Save Jerusalem” and “Love Never Fails,” infomercials contained footage shot in Israel and studio segments shot at Spectrum with a custom-designed set for host Mike Evans. The programs take both a contemporary and a historical look at Jerusalem. Spectrum also provided graphic design and production for the programs. If you’re considering infomercial production, give us a call and our Spectrum Team will be happy to work with you to achieve an excellent program for broadcast.

ANNEXUS TOTAL MEDIA SUPPORT

The Annexus Group recently began working with Spectrum to handle its media needs from live events to produced videos. We responded with full force providing projection, lighting and sound for a number of Annexus national meetings at various Valley resorts. Our goal? Provide solid value for Annexus while reducing overall costs. Bottom line? Spectrum cut costs by more than $10,000 while providing more service, greater value and expert support. Sound amazing? Hey, it’s what we do! We also produced a series of videos highlighting the partnership of Annexus with the Phoenix Suns, as well as web spots featuring PGA Touring Pro Gary Woodland who is sponsored by Annexus. John Friesen worked his magic directing and editing the projects. Dave Jones and Dave Thompson captured spectacular images with their stellar camera work.

FEELING GOOD WITH ARTHRITIS!

Frank Divers, of Business Development and Sonoran Spine, called on Spectrum to provide complete production services for its seminar, Feeling Good With Arthritis. Spectrum provided a three-camera live switch of the two-day event. Then, full post production at Spectrum created a seven DVD set of the seminar. The DVDs are filled with health information and exercises with top MDs like Dr. Dennis Crandall, and Dr. Anthony Hedley. Jan Revella, RN, hosted the series and John Friesen directed. And yes, it is possible to feel good with arthritis!

ALLIANCE BEVERAGE AND THE HIGHLAND GAMES

The Glenmorangie Highland Games came to Spectrum via Alliance Beverage. A series of in-store demonstrations and tasting events of the famous single malt scotch were covered by Spectrum. Alliance Beverage’s Gordie McKenzie and Doug Wooster produced the project. Once again, director and editor John Friesen paired with DP Dave Jones to achieve that “double shot” that goes down so smooth! Ready for another round? Read the next one!

CALIFORNIA BEVERAGE TECHNOLOGIES POURS IT ON SPECTRUM

Here’s one EVERYONE will love. California Beverage Technologies has revolutionized golf. They’ve added two new “clubs” to the bag. Margaritas and Bloody Marys. CBT asked Spectrum to spotlight its Tee Box Beverage System – a new profit center and income stream for golf courses – margaritas and Bloody Marys delivered on tap, in seconds to golfers on the course. Needless to say, we were “all over” this project. Spectrum shot at courses around the Valley and talked with golfers, course owners and beverage managers for their reactions to the system. Everyone loved it! (DUH!) Spectrum produced a three-minute marketing video, capturing the flavor of the Tee Box System showing how fast and easy it is to use. The final piece is designed for Web and e-mail marketing use. CBT’s Jason Moen co-produced the video with Mark Herrmann of Alliance Beverage. DP Dave Jones shot great slowmo golf footage. Reed Hohenstein delivered on audio and editor John Friesen brought it all home in masterful style.

UNIVERSAL MEDICAL DATA DIALS 911 FOR SPECTRUM

A new medical data service is on the rise and they reached out to Spectrum for help. Universal Medical Data provides 24/7 instant access of medical records in an emergency. Bracelets with USB connection capabilities, a 24/7 call center and electronic medical files are all part of the UMD product line-up. Patient medical records are instantly available to first responders and medical teams to provide emergency care. Spectrum provided full service script-to-screen to market the service worldwide via the Web and video e-mail. We interviewed ER physicians, EMTs and users of the system to tell the dramatic story. Spectrum produced a crisp two-minute video detailing the service and how you can protect yourself in an emergency. UMD’s Mike Holzberg and Jeff Axlerod co-produced the video. The Spectrum team delivered again with stunning product shots, powerful testimonials, superb Chroma-Key effects and a compelling story.

INTEL LOOKS TO SPECTRUM FOR NEW PRODUCT DISPLAY VIDEO

Intel introduced its new Interactive Retail Display products at a recent industry show, with spectrum providing scripting and editing for the production. Shoppers can interact with a variety of displays to view product features such as color, style and size selections with a touch of their finger. Intel’s Mike Sweeney produced the project and John Friesen edited the piece.

OPAL IMAGES AND BARRETT-JACKSON DVD

The 40th anniversary of the Barrett-Jackson Auto Auction was bigger than ever. Opal Images relied on Spectrum’s edit capabilities to tell the story and create a six DVD set, special release of the event. Dave Jones, president of Opal Images, worked with editor Robert Troub to capture the feel and excitement of the auction. The DVD highlights the Top 40 sellers of the last 40 years. Great car stuff…and fun to watch!

MEDIA CHOICE SATELLITE MEDIA TOURS

The Media Choice out of Suwanee, Georgia tapped Spectrum to assist in a number of satellite media tours. Each tour was broadcast via TV, radio satellite and the Web to more than 50 networks promoting products to viewers and listeners nationwide. The Spectrum team provided technical directing and support on the Clorox “Toilet Bowl,” Coke “Healthy Eating” and the Purina Cat Chow media tours. Quite a mix! Is there anything we can’t do?

SWISS AMERICA GOES FOR THE GOLD

Spectrum produced a Web video and a series of :30 spots for gold seller Swiss America. Dave Bradshaw of Swiss America produced the project and Craig Smith, president of Swiss America, appeared in the spots that dealt with “Crashing The Dollar.” Director John Friesen and DP Dave Thompson worked together to craft the package and give it that special Spectrum look.

BARTER GROUP PROFILE

The Barter Group asked Spectrum to tell their story to the world. So we did. We produced a short profile video for YouTube with testimonials that target The Barter Group and how they help market companies of all sizes. John Friesen directed the video with Dave Thompson and Dave Jones teaming up on the DP side. Gee, seems like this is habit forming with these guys!

WHEW!... Told you we’ve been busy. Just ask Kathi, our super administrator. She had to handle all this…and more. How she keeps that smile on her face, no one knows. But our clients love her…and we do too!
