CNN’s “Lou Dobbs Tonight” recently broadcast live from the Spectrum studio. Dobbs took his prime-time show on the road for a six-city tour, part of a promotion for his new book. His Phoenix show included an interview with Sheriff Joe Arpaio, which prompted Channel 3 to visit Spectrum for interviews with Dobbs and Arpaio that led the 10 p.m. news. The 20-person CNN crew came fully equipped with a satellite uplink truck. A jib camera was rigged on the roof of the building to capture Phoenix flavor shots to open the show and lead into commercial breaks. The show used an existing Spectrum set, enhanced for Dobbs, including adding four plasma screens. The four-camera show was live switched in the crew’s production truck. The show ran so smoothly, the head engineer said he wished all of the studios they work with on the road were as accommodating as Spectrum. |

Tempe Marketplace, the largest shopping center in the Valley, opened last fall with production and staging assistance from Spectrum. All of the staging, lighting and projection for the night’s entertainment and host, Tara Hitchcock, were provided by Spectrum. In addition, the Spectrum team produced a short video welcoming customers to the center. While guests waited for the festivities to begin, a camera crew roamed the center with on-camera talent and marketing director Summer Katzenbach, getting “man on the street” interviews that were projected on the stage screen. As a dress rehearsal for the grand opening, Spectrum produced the Vestar Development mall’s first Third Thursday concert. |

Bob Roth, managing partner of Cypress HomeCare Solutions, couldn’t believe what he was seeing when he opened the 2006 Spectrum Video holiday greeting video. He thought it was funny and inspired, and he needed to have a greeting like that for his company. So this year, he brought his staff to the Spectrum studio and let them perform in their own holiday message. The eight employees did a little holiday dance in front of the green screen, then with editing appeared before a variety of backgrounds to spread holiday cheer to clients, vendors and associates. “For Cypress I am always looking at a way to promote recall, and delivering a living holiday greeting card for me was one way to accomplish this,” said Roth. “The team building that was a by-product of the production shoot was invaluable.” |
